Las Vegas Debrief

The Entertainment Capital of the World — Bigger, Bolder, and Better Than Ever in 2026

Why Visit Now

Las Vegas has always reinvented itself — and 2026 is one of the most transformative years the Strip has seen in a long time. After a quieter 2025 tourism year, the city is roaring back with a wave of major hotel renovations, buzzy new concepts, headline residencies, and the kind of infectious energy that only Las Vegas can generate.

The headlines are hard to miss: Caesars Palace is celebrating its 60th anniversary on the Strip, debuting sweeping new Sky Villas and Presidential Suites. The Cromwell has been fully reimagined as the Vanderpump Hotel — Lisa Vanderpump's debut foray into hospitality, with redesigned rooms and a refreshed casino floor. Encore is undergoing a $330 million room renovation, and the Fontainebleau — the massive luxury resort that opened at the north end of the Strip — continues to establish itself as one of Vegas's premier properties. Dolby Live at Park MGM is hosting a packed slate of residencies including Bruno Mars and Mary J. Blige. The city is firing on all cylinders.

Las Vegas also happens to be one of the best-value major destinations in the country right now — with resorts offering more competitive pricing and better deals to drive visitation, flexible travelers stand to benefit enormously.

Where to Stay

Las Vegas has something for every type of traveler, from ultra-luxury suites to well-priced Strip-adjacent options:

  • Ultra-Luxury: Wynn and Encore remain the gold standard for refined luxury on the Strip — Encore's $330 million renovation in progress will only elevate the experience. The Fontainebleau Las Vegas (north Strip) is the city's newest mega-resort with 3,644 rooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a stunning pool complex. Caesars Palace's new Sky Villas on the 68th and 69th floors of the Octavius Tower set a new bar for over-the-top suite experiences.
  • Luxury Mid-Tier: ARIA Resort & Casino is a perennial top pick for design-forward guests — room renovations begin fall 2026, so book before then for the freshest rooms. The Vanderpump Hotel (formerly The Cromwell) is the most talked-about boutique option on the Strip right now, with 188 uniquely designed rooms in moss green, dusty lilac, and warm gold. Bellagio continues to be one of the most iconic stays in the world, with the fountain show views from certain rooms worth every penny of the upgrade.
  • Value Play: Park MGM offers a quieter, boutique-hotel feel at the south end of the Strip without the mega-resort chaos. Resorts World Las Vegas at the north end is a newer, well-designed property with competitive rates and a strong dining lineup.

Timing tip: Vegas pricing is driven almost entirely by events. A weekend with a major boxing match, UFC fight, or concert residency can triple room rates. A Monday-through-Thursday stay mid-week during a quiet calendar stretch can get you into a $400/night property for under $150. Knowing the calendar is half the battle.

Getting There

Las Vegas is one of the most accessible destinations in the United States. Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) sits just five miles from the Strip — a 10 to 15 minute taxi or rideshare ride that typically runs $25 to $45.

Virtually every major U.S. carrier serves LAS nonstop, including American, Delta, United, Southwest, Alaska, Frontier, and Spirit. From Florida, nonstop flights are available from Orlando, Tampa, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale — most running under four hours. Las Vegas consistently has some of the most competitive airfares of any domestic destination, with fares regularly dipping well below $200 round-trip from the East Coast on sale.

The airport itself handles nearly 55 million passengers a year and runs efficiently. Terminal 1 handles most domestic traffic; Terminal 3 handles international arrivals and some domestic flights. Rideshare pickup is straightforward, and rental cars are available in the adjacent parking garages — though once you're on the Strip, you won't need a car at all.
